MORE MODELS
Landsdowne of England, a division of Brooklin Models, has produced
a 1/43 scale model of a 1963 Series 3 Alpine with hardtop! The whole
car, including non-removable hardtop, is in carnival red with a black
interior, and includes wire wheels. The price is $69 plus $6.95 UPS,
a bit high, but the quality of this model is one of the best I've seen
in years. And since models of Alpines are few and far between I think
it's worth it. The model is available from EWA & Miniature Cars USA,
369 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, NJ, 07922. Or call
800-EWA-4454. The reference number is LND11.

I bought the Harrington Alpine ($40) last year from:
D and R Enterprises
1385 S.W. 26th Court
Gresham, OR 97080
503-667-4104
They also carry a "Mk V Alpine" metal car ($55), possibly the standard LeMans
Alpine, as well as a few Tigers (Monte Carlo Rallye?) and an extensive
selection of other Provence Moulage cars. Nice detail on the "Mk V", but
upon closer inspection it has all round corners!

Some of you may already know about this, but I just ran across an ad
company is who makes the models is called Lansdowne Models by Brooklin
Models, Ltd. You can purchase one through Brasilia Press, PO Box 2023,
Elkhart, Indiana 46515. Fas (219) 262-8799. I bought one of these
models in London last year. I think I paid 35 Pounds. I can tell you
that this is a very heavy, well built model about twice the size of a
Matchbox. I have not contacted this company and do not know the price
of the Alpine. If anyone contacts them, I would like to know how much
it sells for, I hope I did not pay too much.

Subject: Re: Alpine Models
There are also a few other Alpine / tiger models..
Scalextric the slot racing car company made a yellow Tiger around 5
inches long complete with chrome bumpers and electric motor. Anyone else
got a slot racing Tiger who wants a Trans-Atlantic challenge 8-)
Husky - made a die cast metal series 3 Alpine in gold with a removable
blue hard top.
there is the AMT Tiger kit mentioned below in 1/25 scale - kit ref 2003
and can be assembles as either a stock or custom version. Another E Mail
says the CAT club has these, would someone please E Mail me to confirm
that they are still available - thanks
'Spot on' the UK model company owned by Triang made a die cast early
Series Alpine in several color schemes.
Revell made a Series 3 Alpine model in 1/32 scale kit ref H-1255
In the Uk, the model railway system Hornby, had a car transporter rail
wagon which had a model series 4 Alpine of 1/100 scale in blue with
clear windows and hard top. The model range was called 'Minix'
There are also a few 1/43 scale die cast kits of either Tiger or Alpine
(you sand off the side strips and leave of an exhaust !) made by EnCo.
The main benefit about rebuilding any of the above is that the roll over
frame its on your desk and the rebuild is a bit lighter on your bank
account.
BEWARE - I hear an unscrupulous model owner in LA is trying to do a V8
Alger conversion on an imported right hand drive 'Husky' 1/72 scale
Series 3 Alpines, he may try to pass it off as a fully TAC'd Tiger
prototype - Steve Sage are you still out there 8-) !!!! (Tom Hall, can
you spot original micro rivets)
Another recent piece of momorabilia was the UK TIger clubs phone card
(now sold out).
I guess there are probably more ?.........

There is a Tiger kit, it was remade by ERTL/AMT a few years ago and
CAT sells them for less then $20.00. Back in the 60's, Revell or
Monogram made a Sunbeam Alpine model.

I once heard a rumor about a tiger plastic kit, but I am afraid it was only
a rumor.

AMT made a Tiger kit in the late 60's / early 70's. There is also the
"Get Smart" Tiger kit (AMT?). Recently, under their "Blueprinter"
series, Ertl came out with a Tiger kit.

The National Motor Museum (Beaulieu) in England sell these in their gift
shop. I was tempted to buy one on my UK trip, but restrained myself because
I already had a suitcase full of Imp paraphernalia.
