Sounds like carb rebuild time. Worn needle valve(s) is a likely cause if
the engine sounds like its actually missing at low RPM (flooding). Victoria
British in Lenexa, Kansas sells "grose-jets" to replace the needle style
valves. Supposedly very long lasting. Mine have worked for two years (35K
miles) with no problems.
I'd also check the floats for proper level and possible leaks. A unisyn is
also a good investment for top performance.

Welcome to the World of Lucas generators. They don't put out enough at
low R's to make an out of adjustment horn honk. My old 65 did this all
of the time. It to a generator rebuild, new voltage regulator, to get
it close, then a some fine tweaking adjustment to the horn to get to
work at idle.

I had a similar problem with our Series V. The problem turned out to be a
bad engine-to-chassis ground. The original braided ground strap is located
under the car and attaches at the transmission mount. Ours was really greasy
and gunked up.
Another option (and less work) is to add another ground in the engine
compartment from the chassis to the engine.

As far as the idle speed dropping when the clutch is pressed, this is
normal because the Alpines use a carbon type throw out bearing which
creates a lot of drag on the engine. I do believe that you can get a
roller type throw out bearing from one of the Sunbeam suppliers.
Hey 60psi cold and 30psi hot, that's great! Don't worry!
